Based in Berlin, Germany, soprano Amy Harris has been praised for her expressive and elegant performances as the title roles in Roméo et Juliette (Opera Noord-Holland-Noord) and Suor Angelica (Red River Lyric Opera; Vienna Summer music Festival), as well as for her witty interpretations of characters such as Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte (Orvieto, Italy). Other roles include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (Vienna Summer Music Festival*; Greve Opera Festival), Mimì in La bohème (Verismo Opera; Greve Opera Festival*), and Micaëla in Carmen (Opera Noord-Holland-Noord*). This summer, she returned to the operatic stage for the role of Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) at the Theater Het Lichtruim in Bilthoven, NL.
Native to San Diego, CA, Amy earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis in Music and Comparative Literature and her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Longy School of Music (Cambridge, MA). Returning to the west coast after graduate studies, she made her California operatic debut as Mimì in La bohème with Verismo Opera, shortly followed by the Goodwife in Conrad Suza’s The Wise Women at Stanford University. Since then, she has won the Mayflower Scholarship Competition Award, the Orvieto Young Artist Award, and a DMR-Stipendium.
During the pandemic, she organized several free performances with colleagues in the parks of Berlin and was engaged to record operatic improvisations for the Cartoon Network Show, Tig n’ Seek. An avid promoter of chamber music, Amy often performs chamber music often, including contemporary works, with concerts planned this season in Germany, the Netherlands, and the USA.
